Privacy policy
Effective August 8, 2026
Charles Dean Conner, a California sole proprietor operating August, controls the information described in this policy. This policy covers the August website, account, messaging service, and connected features.
Information we collect
- Account and contact information, including your verified phone number and name.
- Your messages, attachments, instructions, preferences, memories, and feedback.
- Data you direct connected services to provide, such as selected email, calendar, drive, or other connected-account content and metadata.
- Service records such as sessions, approvals, actions, delivery receipts, usage, subscription status, security events, and coarse device or request information.
- Payment and subscription references from Stripe. August does not store complete card numbers.
Sources and purposes
We receive information from you, your devices, services you connect, communications providers, payment and identity providers, and the outside sources August accesses at your direction. We use it to authenticate you; provide and personalize August; perform and verify requested work; maintain memory; prevent abuse; support users; bill subscriptions; and comply with law.
How information is disclosed
We disclose information to service providers only as needed to operate August, including identity, hosting, storage, messaging, payment, connected-account, model, and web-retrieval providers. We may also disclose information when you direct an external action, when legally required, or to protect users and the service. See the current service-provider list.
August does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use connected Google account data for advertising or to train a general-purpose AI model. Our use of information received from Google Workspace APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention
- Recent raw conversation turns and temporary raw files: target of 30 days.
- Memories, account information, user-kept files, active responsibilities, and conversation history: while needed to provide August, until you delete them or close the account.
- Export files: seven days after preparation.
- Minimal security, billing, consent, deletion, and transaction evidence: only as long as reasonably required for security, disputes, accounting, provider obligations, or law.
Providers may keep backups or legally required records under their own retention terms. Deletion from active August systems does not mean every provider backup disappears immediately.
Your choices and data requests
Signed-in users can download August-held account data and start account deletion from Data and privacy in the account page. The signed-in session and an exact deletion confirmation verify those actions. Tell August to correct or forget a memory; for other corrections or if you cannot access the account, email charlie@tryaugust.app. We verify account control before disclosing or changing data. We do not discriminate against users for making a privacy request.
Account deletion runs automatically but may pause while billing or connected services reconcile. August retries without deleting unresolved evidence. When August-held deletion finishes, the account page asks Clerk to delete the sign-in. Some providers may retain transaction, security, backup, or audit records under their own legal and retention obligations.
You may disconnect connected accounts and cancel a subscription from your account. You can withdraw service-message consent by contacting support, but August cannot operate its text relationship without permission to send account and service messages.
California and browser privacy signals
California residents may request access, correction, or deletion as applicable. Because August does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no sale/sharing opt-out to apply. August does not track your activity across unrelated websites for advertising, so browser “Do Not Track” signals do not change our practices.
Security, children, and changes
We use access controls, environment separation, encryption provided by our infrastructure, and scoped provider credentials. No service is perfectly secure. The beta is for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children.
We will post a new effective date and provide additional notice or request consent when a material change requires it.
